My Entrepreneurship Story: A Story with Lemonade, Notebooks and Christmas

I have been exposed to entrepreneurship and encouraged to start my own business since I can remember. I remember three specific moments in my life that made me interested in entrepreneurship. It was selling lemonade as a kid, selling homemade notebooks in high school and creating my own gift wrapping service during Thanksgiving and winter time.
I was the kid that sold lemonade during summers. I sold lemonade at my parents’ garage sales and during those hot Texas summer days. During the garage sales my parents would have, I would be antsy waiting for people to buy some of my old toys. My mom and dad suggested that I sell lemonade. People would always buy a glass for 25 cents when they passed. Little did they know each person had an impact. That was the start of my love for my starting/running my own business.
In middle school, I hated the ugly composition notebooks we had to use. However, our teachers wanted us to use them. Most of my friends would color in the white spaces on the black and white pattern cover. I had the idea to decorate the notebooks and make it more appealing for my friends and me. I bought a pack of notebooks, ribbon and scrapbook paper to make appealing new covers. I sold the “fancy” notebooks and made a small profit.
My last, and best in my opinion, major involvement with entrepreneurship was when I created my own small business in my neighborhood. I was one of the oldest children in my neighborhood. Most kids still believed in Santa Clause and their parents hid their gifts. The parents had time consuming jobs and/or had little time to wrap plus hide the gifts. I offered my services to wrap their “gifts from Santa” in different kinds of wrapping paper with “From Santa” gift tags as well as wrap their gifts from the parents themselves. I created large bows from “Santa’s workshop” and wrapped all types of oddly shaped gifts. I made a huge profit for something so simple during those the holidays.
I enrolled in ENT 3003 because I am working towards a business concentration for public relations. I did specifically choose this class out of all the others because I am very interested in entrepreneurship. It is a dream of mine to run my own business with my father. I want to understand entrepreneurship more and learn ways to think outside of the box. My dream is to be my own boss and run my own company, and not just any company. I want to run a company that betters and helps simplify the lives of people.
